Systems Admin .info is an open community site for Systems Administrators to share knowledge and information. All information is provided by a community of users such as yourself, so join up and contribute.

What is a Systems Administrator?

A Systems Administrator is someone who is responsible for managing computing services.  These services could include servers, networks, workstations, data centres, databases, backups, web hosting services, any Internet services, etc (the list is endless).

How to contribute?

Membership to this site is free and open to any Systems Administrators.  Its success relies on contributions from members: news, articles, any relevant information.  To contribute, just join the site, then follow these steps:

  • When logged in, click on "my folder" in the navigation bar.
  • From the "add item" pulldown, select an item to add (example: "news item").
  • Fill out all the fields and input the content you wish to add (hint: use Firefox for a WYSIWYG HTML editor).
  • Click "Save".
  • Continue to edit and view your content until you are happy with it (please check spelling, grammar and accuracy).
  • When you are ready to publish your content, from the "state: public draft" pulldown select "submit".  This will submit the item to the site Reviewers.  A Reviewer will review your content and decide whether it is ready for publishing.  If so, the Reviewer will publish your content.  If not, the reviewer will reject the submission and give a reason why it was rejected.  This may require the content to be modified or re-written.  If so, please read the Reviewers remarks.
  • If your item is published, the Reviewer may move your item to a more appropriate folder.  For example, a news item talking about databases might be moved to "Databases/News".

If you have any questions, post to the forum or contact the site administrators.
