Case study - Consolidating the Sun store onto SunFire T2000 servers

by Zac Stevens last modified 2005-12-14 14:26

Sun has published a Blueprint describing their efforts to consolidate their online store onto the SunFire T2000 platform.

This Blueprint describes the current architecture of Sun's online store, and explains their case for consolidation onto the T2000 servers - mentioning a few of the relevant features of Solaris 10 in the process.  Although written to paint the new hardware in the best possible light (the current store runs on large but sparsely-populated machines), it provides an interesting insight into the way Sun operates its Ecommerce operations and is worth a read.

The PDF-only report is available here.
